Thread Name: BS: Are you a morning or night person ?
Subject: RE: BS: Are you a morning or night person ?
As Sandra and freda can confirm, I am most definitely a night person. I agree that early mornings and sunrises are delightful, and on the rare occasions I have seen one, I have vowed to get up and see them more often. Alas, I'm afraid that more of the early mornings I have been awake have been from staying up rather than getting up!

Being a night person comes in very handy at folk festivals - I can outstay just about anybody at late night sessions (these young'uns - no staying power :-)), and one year at the National, I walked out of the Session Bar at 7.30am, went back to my tent, was spotted by a poet friend of mine who was just getting up to go to a poet's breakfast, so I pretended I was just getting up too and went to the poet's breakfast with him. I couldn't do that 2 nights in a row tho - have to catch up on the sleep somewhere!

On a normal night, it's not unusual for me to stay up till 3 or even 4 in the morning, and fortunately my lifestyle allows me to do that. I can get by on 6 hours of sleep a night, but I'm happier with 7. I've tried to change gradually, but I tend to slip back into being late again. If I go to bed too early, I take longer to get to sleep anyway. This way, I go straight to sleep and feel well rested when I get up. I don't see any reason to fight it really. I enjoy having time to myself in the late night hours, and John enjoys his time to himself in the early morning hours, so it all works.

I did manage to get up for Mayday with the Sydney Morris Men one year at stupid o'clock, but have only managed it once so far.

Actually, my favourite time of day is sunset. I love it when I can be outside to enjoy one, and over the years I have taken some spectacular sunset pictures.
