I've been considering how to achieve the same effect that my neighbor got by spending $13,000 to put on a new roof and new decking with a reflective coating. His attic is much cooler now (so his cooling bill went way down). I'm putting on this paint to get about 75% of the heat reflected away. He reflects about 90%. I'm spending $1500 to do it.
