Hhmm raffle ticket ripper AND reveiwer?
Well it was a more folky evening than usual.
This does not mean however that there was any lack of variety because yet again was an excellent do!
Was a bit different format to usual a game of two halves in fact.
in the first part the Excellent Beltona.
I really enjoyed the music theseguys brought it brought forth much foot tapping and that funny sitting down dancing that happens when you cant help but get with the beat.
And there was Bodrhan in there being accepted as an instrument which is most peculier.
That was the first half floor spot then we had a spotlight guest.
in the sound of one Mr James Raynard (is that correct spelling Villan?)
This chap has aquired soem fame just lately and let us wish him the good fortune to go with it.
Some excellent guitar playing of the "strangly tuned sounds a bit like bagpipes" variety.
Lovely fiddle playing of the kind we are now used to hearing from the little girls of famous fathers.
This style and sound has become very popular among the BBC listening audience and was great to hear such a well praticed example live at MRFC.
Indeed as I was distributing the raffle tickets one lady said that was good wasnt it that is real folk music and who would argue with that?
The second half kicked of with a couple I have seen and heard at the 5 Bells sing around and they are great.
Karen and Collin Thomson were great they pick their materiel they Know it they sing it and they play it,and it sound to me like they enjoy doing it.
They are a smashing couple and great to listen too.
We even had the pleasure of the singing of Collin.
I never heard him get a word in edgeways before and now he is singing.
Between you and me he is very good at that as well.
