Thread Name: Origins: My Father's Cabin Small
Subject: RE: Origins: composer for 'My Father's Cabin Small
Thanks to "Guest" for setting me straight on the spelling of Ann-Marie Kavanaugh's name.
And thanks to Mr. Douglas for the additional information. Where did you find the reference to "My Father's Cabin" being on Nora Butler's The Dawning of the Day? I've just done a cursory search at Google, but failed to turn up a supporting page. I was hoping, perhaps, to find an email address for Ms. Butler (or Ms. Kavanaugh.)
Given the reference in the lyric itself, I'd say Mr. Kelly's statement that the song is a Donegal song (or, perhaps, a Northern Irish song?) is correct.
Thanks again to all the Mudcatters for turning your prodigious memories on this quest.
Chris
