The URL that goes with Skipy's entry above is this one. Here's what it says:

Qormi Local Council wishes to announce that an agreement has been signed with Kadenzi, the local society for Maltese folk singers and folk musicians, offering them premises for a club in order to cultivate a wider appreciation of Maltese folk singing by Maltese society. The agreement was signed on February 9, 2004 by ...[list of names]

The club is situated in the Greek Theatre Complex near St Sebastian Church at Qormi. This augurs well for the future of Maltese folk singing, an important aspect of our culture. Early documentation of ghana culture goes as far back as early fifteenth century and ghana has always played a part in local culture in the past and contemporary Malta. This is not to exclude the existence of Maltese folk singing and music prior to documentation.

This is the first club for folk singers and musicians in Malta for members to meet and draw their own cultural policy. The club was inaugurated on Sunday 14 March at 10.00 a.m. Folk singers, folk musicians and members of the public interested in ghana are all invited.

Cheers!
