Thread Name: Chord Req: The Preacher and the Slave
Subject: RE: Chord Req: The Preacher and the Slave
The Preacher And The Slave is, of course, a parody of the gospel song In The Sweet Bye And Bye, a song I learned after hearing it performed with great dignity and simplicity on Hee Haw in honour of Minnie Pearl, who had recently died. Here is a tab of the melody in G. Here are the key of C chords I use:

Long-haired (C)preachers come (F)out every (C)night,
Try to tell you what's wrong and what's (G)right;
But when (C)asked how 'bout (F)something to (C)eat
They will answer with (G)voices so (C)sweet:

Main Chorus:

You will eat, bye and (Dm7)bye,
In that (G)glorious land above the (C)sky;
Work and Pray, live on (F)hay,
You'll get (C)pie in the (G)sky when you (C)die.
