"How best can we amend the lyrics?"

I'm not sure I understand the question. I think the lyrics are fine as they are, and not in need of any amendment. The lyrics in the other thread (there's a link in one of my posts in this thread) seem correct to me, except that in the chorus the line that should be "And that lonesome voice that I heard in my head said" is missing a phrase.
