Why not lay a vinyl floor (linoleum) and get rugs? It would be easier and cheaper to replace in the long term and less likely to smell when wet.

We had a rainstorm in London last week that gave us 4 inches of water in 45 minutes. The localised flooding was due to the build up of leaves and garbage in the drains blocking them. The usual regular trickle of water that washes it away hadn't happened so everything backed up. Our cellar, which has flooded in the past, was still dry and safe.

Hope it all dries out soon.... in the meantime, I've got an address here for gopher wood and a cubit measure... and don't forget to pack the shovels and extra dung beetles!
