One of the scariest things about rain-saturated gtound is the threat of mudslides. Juneau is mountainous so every now and again a slide comes down a mountainside and obliterates everything in its path. The same thing happens with snow- when the new snow has not bonded with the 'old' snow. Historically there have been some horrendous snowslides here.
