A few of the old brain cells fired - the woman's name was Paris Kearn [sp?] and she claims to have learned it from a Brit who was wandering around the DC area some years ago. Paris did produce a tape of sea related songs and, or my money, this was her best. BP used her tune rather than the one on the sheet music although it changed (as these things do) depending on who was doing it and what they had eaten for lunch.

I'd love to learn more about the song's setting in England.

Its a long haul from New Orleans to Mystic but we remain hopeful.
