I am reviving this thread as I have an interest in the song, which comes up at our local SSSSSS (Second Saturday Sea Shanty Singing Sessions).

I will try to track down that book, Malcolm, it it is still available.

Lots of songbooks include authored works even if they are folk songbooks.

I thought Capstan shanty songs were for raising the anchor. Who knows if a capstan was also used to raise a fish haul?

I am not familiar with any of the artists mentioned; could owners of the recordings describe and compare?
