Funny...that's what I would choose now, given the choice: no music. I greatly prefer silence most of the time. It's peaceful.

I think you would find that most animals would prefer no music, given the choice. With no outside music or other artificially generated noise being programmed at one over a nearby set of speakers, one can hear the natural music of life as well as the creative music inside one's own head. Much better.

I am annoyed and completely baffled by the habit of most people in this modern society to surround themselves with a constant artificial source of pre-programmed noise. I think they've gradually been driven crazy by modern society. Or...maybe they're really afraid of facing their own thoughts and they want something else to keep drowning those thoughts out and distracting them.

The most grotesque example is the people who go camping in some beautiful spot in nature...and take along a stereo, a generator, and even a TV (!) in order to surround themselves with a bubble of babbling noise in the middle of that beautiful spot...and thus ruin it, in my opinion.
