Bush pledged to the flag-waving crowd, "I'm not going to allow the sacrifice of 2,527 (U.S.) troops who've died in Iraq to be in vain by pulling out before the job is done."
That bastard...2,527 of our young good people are not enough for him, as well as the thousands of civilians in Iraq who have died.
A report by Andrew Krepinevich, a retired army officer on a Pentagon contract, says the Army has become a "thin green line" about to snap under the weight of lengthy and repeated tours of duty, continued low-level casualties, and poor recruiting. It's possible, Krepinevich says, that the Army can't keep up the level of troops necessary to win the peace in Iraq. from TIME Magazine
