When wool is one of your main fabrics and exports, then it seems a bit silly to eat your new 'crop' before it's had a chance to produce anything. It's like cutting down your beans before they've podded or ploughing up your wheatfield when it's only just sprouted. Why sell lamb meat once when you can sell wool 4 or 5 times from the same animal?
