Is there reason to dream, when dreams are all
Heart can expect to hold? Can dream inspire
Without some hope? Will heart find one to call
Sweet muse, and dearest friend, if dreams desire?
Is there reason to care, when my concern
Appears unwanted? Should I spend my thought
Where I can never hope to my hopes earn,
Though I see in her eyes all I have sought?
Is there reason to live, without the chance
To hold the one heart loves within my arms?
What is purpose, without hope for romance,
Of words, and hopes, and dreams about her charms?
Without reasons, I must still let my heart
Acknowledge that to muse I owe my art.
