But we aren't born more intelligent in Canada than in the USA. We just are blessed by being exposed to a lot less total BS in our formative years...and that assists us in developing and applying the natural intelligence that is innate in human beings.

You can make people stupider, and the American broadcast media, educational system, and commercial advertising systems have done wonders in that regard. Kind of like making Wonderbread. It doesn't look like real bread, it doesn't taste like real bread, it isn't real bread...it's squishy and characterless and devoid of useful nutrition...and you can't tell one piece from another. Same basic approach.
