You're working so hard to kill these small animals to maintain an unnatural monoculture called a lawn, right? Such vanity, to kill native critters so your lawn isn't lumpy. Geez.

And all of this putting moth balls out--those things are so toxic they should be illegal. Don't use them for anything, any time, any where. The law of unintended consequences is hounding the heels of anyone who puts those nasty pellets out. First time a toddler comes across one in the yard and pops it in her mouth you'll know why they're a bad idea.

If you want to upset the balance of native wildlife in your yard, get a dog. My two (unfortunately) do a splendid job of knocking off the native critters. They'd love a go at moles, since they such good diggers themselves.

Note: with dogs in the yard, I'm not worried about trying to maintain any particular turf. Dogs are too hard on it, and I hate most lawns anyway. I keep it green and mowed out back because the dogs are more comfortable that way.
