Thread Name: Lyr Req: La Morenita
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: La Morenita
Found La Cumbia de la Morenita, from Colombia, a tune for dancing, about a dark-haired girl. There seem to be others along the same line. Can be downloaded.
Fogeraté by Guerra is about a 'morenita,' "la reina de las flores; a popular song.
La Morenita (Venezuela)- lyrics about a 'chocolate' girl at www.venezuela.ch/cancionero/lamorenita.html
La Morenita (Spain)- about a Moorish girl. No lyrics found on line, but I think I have them somewhere. Have to check Sephardic links.

The Lady of Tepeyac (Virgin of Guadelupe, goddess Tonantzin, etc.). The legend at several sites, but I couldn't find any of the serenades. If your recording is from a Michoacan group, this probably is the subject.

Don't know why this one is so difficult. Could you make a stab at parroting the lyrics on the cd? Someone may be able to put them into Spanish or at least give a rough translation.
