Aye I suppose "stalwart" is a good term. I don't know about other clubs but we used to for our guest nights maybe have a couple of "gambles", a couple of "bigger names" if we could afford them and sort of build those bookings around using people not too expensive and guaranteed to give a good night for all. Geoff Higginbottom was one of that third category for us, an essential category for the running of the club IMO.
