Subject: Reely Grim FOlk Dance 18th July
I would just like to pass on our thanks to all at the Reely Grim Folk dance club at the Blacksmiths arms in Rothwell Lincolnshire UK.
First time I have ever witnessed this phenomonon and it was a great night.
A room full of lovely people having a good time and harming no one in the process.
My Mrs (Jen)and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the dancers in action and in preparation, and it was fun and laughter all the way.
Also got to watch the flying fingers of young Chris on his twelve string as he kindly tried to show me how 'tis done.
Not very musical output from me but that is 'cos I am a slow learner.
The band were brilliant and the music great.
I would recomend anyone who is interested in learning to play traditional tunes for dancing to go along to the next session in August.
Thank you all for making us feel very welcome and may you skip jig ,reel and doh se doh? for many years to come.
Oh yeah the banjo players were not to bad either.
Did'nt get all the names or chat to much because I was absolutely fascinated by the dancers, but did spot young Liam, and a few familiar faces from the local folk scene.
It was great to see you all in action and Cheers Gerry you were dead right about it being a learning experience.reelygrim@talk21.com
Dave and Joy Spreadborough are the ones to contact re dates of future meetings at the E mail I have tried to add above.
Cheers all Tim& Jen.
