I think the song was wanted is called SAUNDERS FERRY LANE (note spelling). Allmusic.com says it was written by "Tooley/Whitehead" and recorded by Sammi Smith. It appears on 2 of her albums: "Help Me Make It Through the Night" (1976), and The Best of Sammi Smith (1973). This page says it's also on "Sammi with a Bullet."
