Hi Giok, the only Curly I know of within the NZ folk scene was Curly del Monte, a cockney who came out here in the 60s and ran a folk club in Auckland called Poles Apart.
He died a few years back but he certainly was a character and had quite an influence on the folk scene - not always good!
