It never gets any easier, but at least we can do right by them in the end and get them relief from the pain. Shadow sounds as though he was quite a character. Sorry he had to go. I love what your daughter wrote AND your tribute to him. He sounds a bit like my son's black cats, Izzie and Morticia! This is first time in my life I have been without a black cat, since my Kelpie passed away in my arms a couple of years ago. My current *owners,* all three of them, do not seem a bit tolerant of the idea of introducing anyone new!
