My definition: Folk songs and music are ones that have been sung or played traditionally, and has to be at least 60 years old to qualify, and must come from a traditional singer or instrumentalist. My definiton comes from looking at a vast amount of data (primary collections of songs, not anthologies, recordings of professionals, hearsay, etc.).
