I've tried every type of string on at least a dozen guitars over the years, and, it has been my experience that much depends on the guitar itself. My old Gibson J 45 preferred Martin Bluegrass. (Blue steel strings really sucked) My Taylor likes D'Addario medium bronze. They stay alive much longer than any other I've tried. I also use a cleaner called FAST FRET. It extendes the life of any string.
