Subject: Singing on the USS Eagle, Portsmouth, NH
A little late on this event but. A bunch of shanty singers from the Portsmouth, NH, Portland, Maine area & I believe from the Cape Ann, Mass area will be getting together on this Saturday (8/5) from 2 to 4 in the afternoon & then from 6:30 to 8:15 evening then we'll go immediately to Market Square which will be blocked off to traffic (I think) to join Jeff Warner and Bob Webb, who'll already be underway, for a shanty blast. There'll be a fair amount of mudcatters there, maybe those that are going would check in here.

The USS Eagle is a 295' Bark (Barque) (3 masts, the forward 2 are fully rigged & the aft is fore an' aft) with an average complement of 200 bodies, so there should be one hell of a chorus singing with us. The last time, about a month ago on the Bluenose II, we did this there were about 20 of us in the afternoon & probably 15 of us in the evening & it was pretty much a great time. This will most likely be a much larger & grander time. John Roberts will be preforming at a festival in Salem, Ma, so he'll be on hand to lend his fingers & mouth to the festivities. Hope to see & meet any others that'll be coming over for the party.

Hopefully someone will be toting a camera.
