Thread Name: HAPPY Yorkshire Day
Subject: RE: HAPPY Yorkshire Day
Soldier Boy, I ouhgt to point out that Saddleworth is a part of Yorkshire. It was because of confusions caused during and by local government reorganisations that the Ridings Society was founded. Yorkshire day was then instituted to celebrate the true boundaries of this, England's largest county. It is in part explained in The Yorkshire Code (I think it translates as "Bugger Da Vinci!"). It is also explained by The Association of British Counties, who point out that other peoples' counties have been subjected to confusion over boundaries. Essentially Yorkshire (and all the other historic counties -insert name here.....) is still Yorkshire (or insert name....) and will continue to be despite any fleeting administration reorganisations. Quack! Geoff the Duck.
