Thread Name: Origins: The Legend of Jolie Blonde
Subject: RE: Origins: The Legend of Jolie Blonde
Amedee Breaux first recorded "Ma Blonde Est Partie (Jolie Blonde) in 1929. Some say his sister Cleoma wrote it.

What evidence is cited that it did not originate with the Breaux's? Did this artist invent the story of 'a prisoner ...'?

The original is included in "Cajun Early Recordings," 4 CD set, JSP Records, B, Track 12 . The later version "Jolie Blonde" by the Hackberry Ramblers (1936) is in disc C, track 5.
