Danny, I'd disagree with your ex-roomie. Sure, some of them have stopped rocking and become parodies - Aerosmith for one. But some of them still do it, and do it well. Status Quo have been an unfashionable joke for practically their entire performing career, but that doesn't alter the fact that they rocked like good'uns, and they can *still* do it. There's a band called the Hamsters in the UK who play blues-rock - they're all over 40 IIRC and they've *never* had radio play or any chart stuff, but they tour constantly to packed-out houses because they're *good*. And Mark Knopfler this year was frankly amazing, even if he did have a tea break in the middle. :-)
