Clinton is correct, Jane. I didn't invent the ICE thing though - the emergency services recommend it. Just put in contact details (e.g. home/Geoff etc) for who to contact in case of accident etc. At the scene of an accident or similar the emergency services check first for an ICE number on your phone.

Another thing to do is have a Message In A Bottle, which is all the information the emergency services need if they have to break into your house for any reason. Most people keep them in the fridge, for some reason, and there is a sticker to place on the outside of the fridge saying it's there. These can be picked up (for free I think) from your local Lions club, or look out for them on Lions stands at shows etc.
