All right a long shot, but here goes. there was a a man called Alan Jones who run a folk club in Exmouth for a short while in the mid 1970's. I remeber he had a beautiful yamaha PA, in days when most folk clubs had sod all - the affluent ones had H&H stuff.

Paul Downes, Steve Knightly, Phil beer might have known him as at that point they used to turn up at all the local folk clubs. And maybe that friend of theirs Colin wilson.

I know by then he had some kind of a track record because Fred Wood did an article about him in Folk Review - or whatever his magazine was called. I remember it said in the article, he used to outrage folk club audiences by singing Sam Cooke songs - and they wonder why the folk clubs died off!

it must be quite a common name though. best wishes.
