Northern Alberta: Fort Chipewyan. Dog was barking at about 3:00 AM. The owner got up and yelled at the dog in what I think was Chipewyan (it wasn't Cree, that I know). Any way, the dog was quiet for about ten minutes then it started again. The next sound I heard was his screen door opening and closing. And the next sound was a 12 gauge shotgun. And a single yelp. It was quiet for the rest of the night.
