When I arrived at my mother's home this afternoon, she told me that she had just heard over the radio that Liam Clancy had died. She called the station and the information was reconfirmed. I know no details beyond that he is being waked in Connecticut.

Liam had a beautiful voice and used it fawlessly. His solo CD for Vanguard, Liam Clancy, was a monumental achievement - one of the finest recordings of the 1960s and stands up well even today.

I'm sure his many admirers at the Mudcat Cafe will miss him very much.
