Not only have I communicated with Liam Clancy personally today (fortunately, he contacted me before I heard the "news"), but I have also confirmed with the radio station that the report is false. They are now declaring the report to be false. It was called in by someone who claimed to be from a record company. It was a cruel joke which has hurt a lot of people. It is also a lesson in responsible journalism.

Plus, Liam lives in Ireland, not "at his home in Connecticut", as the report stated.

I e-mailed the folks from the Irish show at Fordham Radio and offered to post an explanation, retraction, or apology on Liam's site, which I run. It's at http://homepage.tinet.ie/~clan/English/ Hopefully, they will respond.
