Queen Victoria's vast family married into most of the royal families in Europe, and in the first world war we may have been fighting her 1st cousin's mob!


Queen Victoria was held, on her deathbed by her grandson, son of her daughter Vicky. He was Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces during WWI, and his son was a field commander. He is better known as Kaiser Wilhelm II. His abdication in 1918 lead to the rise of Chancellor Herr Hitler.

So yes.... the Royal Family of Britain (formerly known as Saxe-Coburg, before George changed it to Windsor) was closely connected to various departments of the German government.... so what? Scratch any family hard enough and you're going to find a connection to someone you'd rather not be associated with - unless your family lived in one village for over 200 years and didn't do much but farm, fish and thatch.

Scratch the present Pope hard enough and you find the head of what was formerly known as the Inquisition - choose your baddie.
