She's definitely a folkie whom they figured they could market better at the time with the tag "country" stuck on. "Stones in the Road"....is so good that it's unclassifiable. I'd put it among the 10 best albums of all time, and I think it's her best.

By the way, here's another "country" singer who is really a Tex-Mex folkie, and also has done some wonderful stuff in both Spanish and English: Tish Hinojosa.   Her album "Destiny's Gate" is superb.
