Thread Name: BBC R4 'The Favourite' Irish pub (spam thread)
Subject: RE: BBC R4 'The Favourite' Irish pub
I'm intrigued by the spam messages above (before they're removed by a mod) - do some poor deluded souls actually spend their days trolling through message boards and then going through the rigmarole of typing in the HTML? A most curious occupation - particularly since nearly every board I know has a policy of deleting such rubbish as soon as it appears. Or is it done automatically by some robot software?
Hi, Gervase. There are just a few threads that get hit heavily - this one has had over twenty Spam messages, posted from 31 August through 8 September. Mick took on the tedious task of moving all the legitimate messages to a new thread, one at a time. That should take care of it. I did the same several days ago with another thread, and our trick seemed to work. The Spam-attracting thread was closed, and the new thread with with old messages hasn't been hit. Thanks to Mick for cleaning up this one. -Joe Offer-
