I heard about the partial eclipse (I think it was on the weather forecast) and then forgot to go out and look until it was just finished. Why am I so stupid?!

None of the planets that pass in front of the sun cover enough of it to make a 'blind' bit of difference to the potential damage to your eyes. By the way, you can use the same viewing precautions to see sun spots.
