If they like your songs you will get great applause. If not, mild applause. When I performed, I did write many of the songs I sang. However, I always made room in various sets for some traditional music that I liked and owed homage to. Even when I reached a point in some places that people would come to hear the songs I'd written, I always found it important to include other folks' material and stuff from bygone eras. That included things the audience could sing along with, and on occasion do the whole song with only guitar input from me. Go sing your songs.
