Thread Name: Write a song for Lincolnshire
Subject: RE: Write a song for Lincolnshire
I think it has a lot to do with songwriting Johnny.

So much is verboten, when it comes to folksongs and folksinging.

That's why the whole folk process is moribund in so many ways. Heres a guy saying, Lincolnshire isn't like that - so I can't write a folksong about it - the picture postcard stuff that passes for folkmusic on Radio2 offends his intelligence. It expresses nothing of his life experiences.

Is folkmusic like Winnie the Pooh and it has to stay in the enchanted 100 Acre wood with its poachers and sail-i-ors and handsome maidens, or is folk music like Piglet who fitted into Chritopher Robin's pocket and could go out with him into the world.

Its a valid debate.
