Thread Name: Origins: Don't Send My Boy to Prison (& parodies)
Subject: ADD: Do not send my girl to Radcliffe
john-
In 1945 (or so) we sang it to the tune of "Springtime in the Rockies"

ANd another version was

"Do not send my girl to Radcliffe"
Was a dying mother's cry
"Do not send her off to Barnard"
I would rather see her die
"But send her off to Vassar
Or, if you must, Cornell
But not to Sarah Lawrence
I'd see her first in Hell"

Cornell seems to wind up in all the versions, for rhyming convenience. I guess Bucknell just wasn't popular enough.
