Thread Name: musicians wanted, Long Walk for Peace
Subject: musicians wanted, Long Walk for Peace
The organizers of the Long Walk for Peace (starting tomorrow, central Scotland) thought they had some musicians lined up to perform at events along the route. They now find, due to some misunderstanding, they have a lot less than they thought. Can anybody (singers particularly) fill in for any of these spots? If so contact Janet Fenton, 07913 861 689.

Scotland's LONG WALK for Peace -Faslane to the Scottish Parliament

14-19 Sept 2006.

*Bin The Bomb don't replace Trident*

We desire that Scotland should be known for its contribution to international peace and international justice rather than for waging war.

We hope that you will be able to support The Long Walk for peace */with an appearance and a song along the way/*, inspiring and encouraging people to join the walk and/or come to the meetings, and expressing the message through song.

Church leaders including Alan McDonald, Moderator of the Church of Scotland, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, Bashir Mann and others will take part with Kate Hudson and Bruce Kent as well as MSPs Mark Ballard, Chris Ballance and Rosie Kane. STUC and Unison will be represented as well Scotlands cultural community, including writers, poets and, of course, singers.

There are public meetings all along the route

(Thu 14 Sept)Dumbarton 7.30pm

(Fri 15 Sept) Clydebank 12.30 2.00pm

(Sat 16 Sept) George Square Glasgow 1.00pm, Coatbridge 6.00pm

(Sun 17 Sept)Bathgate 7.30pm

(Mon 18 Sept)Currie 7.30pm

(Tue 19 Sept) Castle Street 2.00, Parliament 3.30

There will be a basic PA and stage at each meeting except at the parliament .

David Ferrard is walking, as well as providing music at several of the public meetings along the way, and Cathy Peattie will sing the Freedom Come All Ye as part of the Scottish Executive's welcome to the walk at the Scottish Parliament. Protest in Harmony will welcome the walk to St John's Church at lunch time on Tuesday and walk and sing for the last lap from Castle Street to the Parliament. David will feature some new songs and singers from the Songs For Change Peace Anthem competition.

We hope that you will be able to participate in giving the resounding message that Scotland does not want Trident, let alone any replacement, and we expect our executive to work for a nuclear weapon free Scotland.

See scotland4peace.org for up to date details or to register/ as a walker/. If you think you can help /with an appearance and a song/,*/ please contact Janet Fenton mob 07913861689 /*
