The misapplication of Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection is known as "Social Darwinism" and is an excellent example of extreme misuse of science as mataphor. However, I don't think you should necessarily demonize John D. as a believer in it unless you have hard evidence, which you did not take the trouble to cite. (Yes, I know you said "like Rockefeller" but the poor dead white male has taken enough abuse already in this thread!)
