There are slobs and fools out there, just as there are football hooligans. But the majority are sober, nice people who are genuinely interested in the outdoors and in conservation.

I wonder how many people realize that the greatest single threaat to wildlife, the one that far exceeds hunting or climate change, is loss of habitat?

"Loss of habitat" -- a euphemism for people taking the land the animals need to survive. Housing estates, shopping malls, highways, McMansions, dams, factories, mines and worse.
