Thread Name: Tech: Preventing Quicktime taking over
Subject: Tech: Preventing Quicktime taking over
I recently had to instal Quicktime to read some files off a CD. I detest Quicktime because of its habit of taking over everything vaguely multimedia. Unfortunately, the video clips that my camera creates seem to need QT to view them. (Filename suffix *.mov)
This time I managed to prevent it from opening everything in sight on the computer, but I was unsuccessful with the Browser (Firefox 1.5.0.7). I have had a good look round but could not find anything in the Firefox Plugins file relating to QT.
Can anyone either suggest how I can stop QT opening media files downloaded in the browser or, even better suggest an alternative program for viewing *.mov files. The camera is a Kodak, btw.
