Thread Name: Dick Gaughan and Pentangle at Johnny D's
Subject: RE: Dick Gaughan and Pentangle at Johnny D's
His York, Maine date is on April 16 at Inn on the Blues. For ticket info contact Harvey Reid. His e-mail. (harvey@seacoastguitar.org)I would recommend this venue over Johnny D's which, in my opinion is overpriced in terms of cover charges and food. Last time I went there (2 hour drive) to see Gaughan, there was a power cut after his third song. Gaughan walked off stage. The audience sat there for over an hour, hoping a) the electricity would be restored; b) Gaughan might do an acoustic set; or c) there might be a partial refund of a hefty door fee. None of the above occurred and a two-hour drive home ensued. Now, when Gaughan sings his working class, socialist repertoire, it is hard not to think of him as a rather hypocritical big-name folksinger, standing at the back of Johnny D's with a beer, while low income people like me, who drove a 200 miles round trip, to see him had an expensive, worthless night.
