Well to each his own. I struck it rich at the Sally Ann today. I managed to get the following 78RPMs:
The Prisoners Song and the Wreck of the Old 97 (in the DT) by Vernon Dalhart (ca. 1924)
Waiting for the Train (Jimmie Rodgers) and Slue-Foot Lue (Marvin) sung by Gene Autry
and "Down in De Canebrake" (ol Crumit is taking credit for writing this traditional song) and Song of the Prune sung by Frank Crumit (an excellent candidate for resurrection by a skiffle band)
Also the soundtrack from "Oh What A Lovely War" which includes these lovely pieces from WW1: Oh Its a Lovely War, Gassed Last Night, There's a Long Long Trail, Hush Here Comes a Wizzbang, They were Only Playing Leapfrog, I Wore a Tunic, Joe Soap's Army, When This Lousy War is Over, I Want to Go Home, The Bells of Hell and many others.
Anyone wanting to have the lyrics to any these let me know and I will start transcribing with those first and hopefully get to the others that aren't already on the DT as time permits.
