Well if you will frequent such dives as Wapping, what do you expect?!
If it makes you feel any worse, I've lived here for 16 years and never had any trouble at all.. When I lived in sleepy Dorset I was robbed once, beaten up twice and followed home frequently by some really wierd people!
Mind you, I don't carry a handbag and I keep my phone & travel cards in my trouser pockets.
