Casino, a town in north-eastern New South Wales, calls itself "Australia's Beef Capital". It has - or used to have - an annual Beef Festival with the Festival Queen being called Miss Beef.

And Stanthorpe, which is over the border in Queensland (but not very far from Casino as the crow flies) has an annual "Miss Ring and Rodeo" quest. The Stanthorpe district was where the rodeo movement started in Oz many years ago, hence the rodeo connection - but "ring" is Ozzie slang for the rectum.

Spaw, I am with you on this. I love small-town festivals and the community spirit they foster!

Cheers
