Depends what you're playing it thought already...I've had a lot of fun with a digital delay. On mandolin but I'd use it on fiddle too. Two settings: one "short" which fattens up the sound, or a "long" delay which plays the note again as an echo. I keep the short delaty on all the time, switch to the long to make a nice psychedelic wash on the B part of a minor tune.
Also try a compressor if you think you could use a fatter tone for punching through the noise.
